Rules for People's Choice and Cook's Choice

People's Choice - To keep things fair and not allow someone to bring in a crowd of people to vote for their entry, this event will be a blind judged event. Cookers will be provided 1 or 2 Pork Butts to be cooked on site, pulled, sliced, or cut into small pieces and turned in to the contest volunteers sampling/voting area by 11:00 AM on Saturday September 8th. The entries will be numbered and only the contest officials will know whose entry matches each number. The public will buy a ticket and be given samples of 5 entries and vote for their favorite. They may enter as many times as they wish and will not know which 5 samples they are given. The People's Choice Contest will close at 2:30 PM and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Cook's Choice - This event will be held on Friday Night following the cooks meeting. Cookers will be allowed to prepare their entry off site and heat it on site before the contest begins. The Hay Capital BBQ Sponsors will be the judges of this event and they will have a drawing to pick which entries they judge. Three (3) judges will come to the cookers site and have the entry presented to them. The judges will judge, appearance, presentation and taste. As these judges are not KCBS certified, this contest is for the enjoyment of the sponsors and cookers. The winners will be announced at the award ceremony.

Dessert Category - The dessert must be prepared and cooked on site. Cooker may use any heat source to prepare their dessert entry. Entry can be six separate portions or one large portion for submission to judges. The garnish rule is waived. The desserts are not required to presented in styofoam containers. You must affix the numbered label to your container. If you present your dessert in a different container, the Hay Capital BBQ Orginization is not responsible for returning that container or any decorations.
